Kids and Cake

My cold is settling more and more into my chest.  I had to take my inhaler this morning because I didn't feel like I was able to breathe fully.  It seemed to help, so I will likely take it again later.

I took the puppy for a walk on a route we hadn't done before.  It was still all within the confines of our complex, but it was new to him. This meant that, even though the route was shorter, it took us longer since he had to stop and smell things more often.

This morning at work went by very quickly.  There were a good number of students there, but the rain we had mid morning kept some of them away (our students almost all take public transport to school and they won't walk to it in the rain).  We got a good amount of rain at school, but when I got home I couldn't tell if it had even rained.

In the afternoon we had our first department meeting.  I was very nervous about it since I am now in chair of running and planning these meetings.  I worked on stuff for it all this week and made sure I had all my notes ready for it.  I amazed myself at how much I was able to talk about things with only my bullet point list of notes to work with.  I was even able to answer most of the questions that I was asked, which made me happy.  I felt like the meeting went pretty well and that we got what we needed to accomplished.  The bigger question will be to see if everyone gets done what they are supposed to between now and our next meeting in a few weeks.

After the meeting, I went home, had dinner and relaxed for a little while before heading out to small group.  I had the worst luck ever in trying to get to her house.  I was already running late because the puppy did not want to be left alone again after being by himself all day.  I then went into "autopilot" as I drove and turned left towards my work instead of right towards my friend's house.  I realized my mistake, turned around and called her to inform her of my tardiness.  I then proceeded to drive right past the turn to her house and had to loop back around.  All told, we were about 15 minutes late to small group!

Tonight was my turn to help out with the kiddos at small group.  It was really very fun.  Since I teach Sunday school to most of them and see them at small group, many of them are starting to really like playing with me.  It is rather fun getting to be their friends.

After small group was over, we hung out, chatted and ate a delicious apple cake the hostess made!  It was very good and even better with a little bit of vanilla ice cream.  I talked to my husband on the way home.  It was good to hear about his day, but it definitely made me miss him lots!
