Temperature - 70 degrees (with 73% humidity, ick!)
Time - 35:48 - new PR!!
This morning I woke up around 5, but managed to go back to sleep until 5:45. I got up and had a modified form of my usual race breakfast (there wasn't any peanut butter so I just had toast with butter) out on the deck. We overlook a lake and it was so very peaceful to eat and listen to the birds.
I actually had goals for the race. It had been a while since I got to put actual goals since the last few races were more about someone else than me.
A Goal (perfect day) - a new PR, so under 36:17, I didn't expect this one to happen due to hills.
B Goal (average day) - anything under 38 minutes. That would make it my second fastest 5K.
C Goal (less than average day) - anything under 40. I should be able to go faster than I went when I was keeping up with a 10-year old.
The rest of the family got up around 6 and we were ready to head out by 6:30. We made it to the race around 7, which gave us plenty of time to stretch and go to the restroom before the race started.
Me before the race! |
After that, we still weren't done yet, the biggest hill was was left. I finally got down the hill and the finish line was in sight.
Down the stupid evil hill! |

I should have believed my husband as he had this picture to prove he was right about my time. |
We had planned on going to the water park the race was held at but it decided to start pouring rain so White Water closed and there went our plans so we had to try to find something else to do.
Instead of the water park, we went over to my aunt and uncles house to hang out. They live in a country area outside of the town where we are staying. They have cows and and bake hay and everything. We rode their 4-wheelers around and then hung out by their pool until it was time for dinner.
We ended up going to a local pizza place, Hooks and Ladders Pizza. It was pretty good. My little brother got into town and met us there. It was awesome to get to see him!
We went home and relaxed for the rest of the evening.
