This afternoon, my husband texted to me say my watch came in! I was so very excited to get home and try it out! When I got home, I made myself do all of my usual after-school stuff and got dinner made and put into the oven before I allowed myself to sit down and open the box. It was so very exciting!
As I expected, the watch had to be charged before I could use it. Of course something I had been waiting for needed a few more hours before I could really use it. I am glad we have small group tonight since that will get me out of the house and away from my new Garmin long enough for it to get all charged up, hopefully.
After dinner, we gave two of our friends a ride to small group. It was really fun to sit and chat with them as we drove. We may be giving a ride to one of them more regularly, which could be really fun! I do see her plenty, she is my running buddy, but it is nice to be able to breathe normally while we are talking to each other!
When we got home, I checked and saw that the Garmin was all charged, yay! So I unplugged it and turned it on. The setup was really easy and the watch found satellites within a minute or so. I did have to go outside to get it to connect, but once I was out, everything happened really quickly. I tested the heart rate monitor that comes with it and it connected easily and quickly, once I put some water on the electrodes like it says to in the instructions. Apparently that it very key.
I already have a Garmin GPS system for my car, so I just had to add the Forerunner to the account and link and Connect account to it. Now I am all set up and ready to take it for a run. Unfortunately, I don't have one until Saturday. I am planning on wearing the watch around some, since it is actually not bad looking and not super huge either, to get my wrist used to it. I haven't worn a watch in a very long time and I never wear bracelets so it it going to take some getting used to.
After getting the Garmin all setup, I watched some tv with my husband, had an ice cream bar and some tea and then headed off for bed.

The ultimate test of patience for me, waiting for the watch to charge! |
