Movie Night

This morning, I woke up and did my weigh in.  I weighed 134.6.  It was a pound more than last week, but I was ok with it.  I hadn't counted anything the entire long weekend (Friday to Monday) and so I was glad that it was only a pound over.  I was right on track for the last three days of the week, which made the number on the scale much better than it had been.

I had a district leadership meeting this morning that started at 8:30 at one of the other schools in our little school family, so I didn't have to leave my house until 7:45 this morning.  Normally I am at school by then, so it was definitely a very different traffic pattern than what I am used to.  I am very glad I took my husband's advice about what road to take because the road I would have taken had a rather large accident on it that made several people over 30 minutes late to the meeting!

They did bring us breakfast, which was also late because of the traffic, and I had assumed they would so I didn't eat anything other than some fruit before I left the house.  I was rather hungry by the time it got there so I had a donut and a bagel.  Both were delicious and since I was running, it ended up being ok.

I got back to school around 10:30 and the rest of the day just flew by.  Since I didn't eat breakfast until 9:30 or so, I wasn't hungry at all during the day, but I did make sure I snacked on my apples, carrots and grapes I brought as part of my lunch in the afternoon.

When I got home, I changed and headed down to my treadmill to run.  I might have considered running outside, but I wanted to finish the episode of Sherlock I started on Monday (I am saving them to watch while I am on the treadmill).  I had 35 minutes that I was supposed to run, so I wanted to try and do 3 miles.  About halfway through, I did the math and knew I would have no trouble getting 3 miles but that I would be close to 3.1 so I bumped up my speed for the last mile or so to get in a full 5K.  I ended up running the last quarter mile or so at at 10 minute mile pace or faster!  Having now done two 5Ks on my treadmill at 35:00 or less, I am fairly confident that the next time I race a 5K, I should be able to PR.

After I got cleaned up and had dinner, my husband surprised me by asking if I wanted to go see a movie.  We went to see Iron Man 3 at our local $1.25 (2.50 on weekends) theater.  I was very excited.  We had tried to go see Iron Man 3 earlier in the summer but the showing we wanted to go to was sold out.  We missed the first 3 minutes of the movie and we didn't stay for the typical scene after the credits, but we had a good time.

On the way home, I stopped at the McDonald's closest to our house to get an ice cream cone.  It turned out that it was "temporarily closed," to use the words of the person at the drive through window.  By then I had gotten myself set on an ice cream cone, so we drove past out house to the other McDonald's near us.  This one was open and I did get my ice cream cone, which cost us a grand total of $0.49!  I think we might have spent more on gas to get to that McDonald's than we did on the ice cream.
