Treadmill Running

So yesterday I didn't exactly do either of the runs I thought I would do but I am still proud of what I accomplished.  I did a "short" long run.  I did 2.5 miles, with a small break about halfway through.  Considering I had been experiencing some gastrointestinal distress all day, I was really uncomfortable the entire time I was running (which led to my small break halfway through the run).  My legs and head were more than willing to keep running but certain other parts of my body were threatening to quit cooperating so I decided to stop while I still had my dignity.

My bible study last night was really great!  As I expected, there was a lot of introductory stuff last night, explaining how we would do things and how the study was set up and less of an actual session (which was good since I didn't get the book for the study until I got there last night).  It was awesome to see at  20+ of us who showed up and packed into the house.  I am looking forward to jumping in with these ladies over the next 12 weeks.

Runs like the one I had yesterday always remind me why I like to do my runs on the treadmill.  I know it can be super boring and gets old on long runs really fast, but I honestly prefer my treadmill more often than not.  Some things I like about my treadmill.

My Treadmill (yes my basement is messy)
1)  Bathroom Access (enough said)
2)  Temperature Control
3)  Unlimited Water
4)  No Traffic
5)  Spending time with my husband and dog (my husband doesn't run and my 13 pound dog can't go very far before I have to carry him, and yes I have done that)
6)  Easy to get home if I get hurt (I have history of spraining my ankle and I am terrified of being miles from home, injuring myself and then having to try to get back home)
7)  Tracks basic stuff for me (time and distance)
8)  It can keep a consistent pace
9)  Time of day is irrelavant
10) Lack of pollen
11) Leaves me with fewer excuses

I know there are some major cons to running on a treadmill and that for many people, running on the treadmill is a punishment.  I do like running outside.  In fact, since most of outside running has been for races, I associate running outside with really positive feelings.  At this point in my life and running, my treadmill is just better for me.  My opinion is that if running on the treadmill will keep me running, then that's where I should run.  I hope when school is over (Friday needs to get here soon!) that I can do some of my running outside in the mornings when it is nice out to keep from getting burnt out.
