It was still darker than I liked, but because I knew if I didn't get my run in then, I would have a hard time doing at all. I started my run initially on the busier and better lit street by my brother's instead of in the neighborhood next to it. However, the street didn't have a side walk (which made me nervous) so I went back into the neighborhood.
I had one weird encounter when I was running. There wad a white pickup truck that drove past me and then sat and waited at the stop sign ahead of me. I didn't want to panic unnecessarily, so I stopped running and started walking (to see if they would continue on). Another car came up behind them and they moved through the stop sign but then stopped again in the middle of the street. I was getting a bit nervous now, but I saw one of the hospital security guards driving around in a golf cart and knew if I hurried (I was still walking) I could catch up with him before I got too close to the truck. When the truck saw me running next to the security guard, it took off. The guard didn't say anything to me, but I saw him a few more times (I decided to go ahead a circle the hospital a few times instead of going back a wandering through the neighborhood and I took the busier well lit street back to my brother's).
After that, I showered, got dressed, dried my hair and went back to bed for a few hours. When I woke up, my brother had just gotten up and we loaded up my car. There were a few little things I wanted to do before I left town, so we ran around and did those. We drove by the house we lived in less than a year ago. It was bittersweet to see it. There are so many good memories there but I love the life we have (and the friends we have made) in Ohio.
Our old house! So many memories! |
After lunch I said goodbye to my brother and started the 10 and a half hour drive to my hometown. After living in smaller state, I was reminded of how big Texas actually is. That 10+ hour drive is all in the same state and I am not driving from one extreme to another. You could easily add a couple of hours to my trip and still stay in Texas.
The drive was pretty uneventful, no rain, horrible drivers or traffic to speak of. I got to my parent's house around 10:30. My family was still up, waiting for me. My dad helped me unload the car (he got home about 12 hours before I did) and then we all went to bed.
