Aviation and Space Museum

We had breakfast this morning in the hotel restaurant.  We discovered that they were having a special that made the breakfast we split the other day dramatically cheaper!  If I could learn to drink plain water with my breakfast, I always get nauseous when I try to, we could get out of there for about 6 dollars total.  We don't come away stuffed but we also aren't starving before lunchtime.

Another day of research today (which it will be every day until we leave Canada).  We went over to DHH, which was our first research location, and worked through some more of the stuff we got on Tuesday.  We also got to meet 2 of the historians who work there.  My husband spent about an hour total talking to them.  He is really good at that kind of stuff, he can ask good questions and knows enough about much of his field that he can at least make some connection between what they are saying something he knows a little about.  They even suggested, and then retrieved, 3 more boxes of stuff for us.  My husband says that it is good stuff, I have no clue what is good and not, so I believe him and will take pictures of it.

For lunch we went to Wendy's.  We had planned on walking to the McDonald's across the street, but it was raining.  In fact, it rained for most of the day.  Because of the rain, we decided to drive and if we were going to drive, we would rather go to Wendy's.

After lunch, we did some more photographing and then headed out.  We stopped at a store to get contact solution and a bottle of Mio water enhancer for me and then stopped by a bank to get some Canadian money that we may need for parking at my race on Saturday.  After those two errands, we went to the Canadian Aviation and Space Museum.  We wanted to see it but didn't want to pay the $13 each for us to get it.  We found out, by reading the guidebook we borrowed from the library and brought with us, that the museum is free from 4 to 5 everyday, the last hour they are open.  We had to pay $1 for parking, but that was all.  It was a nice museum and had a good number of planes, and it was very kid-friendly, but it would not have been worth the $13 each for us.  They had a Star Wars exhibit going on, but it cost $24 and we didn't know enough about it to spend the $24 blindly.

A bright yellow rescue helicopter!
A canadian drone!
There were lots of different shapes and sizes of pontoon boats, which make sense given how much water there is in and around Canada.
We stopped by a KFC to get dinner and headed back to the hotel.  When we got back to the hotel, we realized that the KFC boxes not only had French wording on them, but also had a PFK logo on them, in addition to the English wording and KFC logo.  We decided that PFK must be the French equivalent of KFC.  I looked it up in Google translate and got that fried chicken is Poulet Frit (the PF) and I am guessing that the K still stands for Kentucky, which I would guess is du Kentucky.

After eating dinner and waiting for it so settle, we went to the fitness center and went for a run.  Yes, WE did!  My husband came with me!  I asked him earlier in the day and he said he would.  I was so excited!  Well, the run sucked, big time.  I did my usual intervals, 3 minutes jog then 3 minutes run 4xs.  Then, since I had an odd number of minutes to run with and there was no way that I was making my intervals longer today, I did 2 minutes walk, 2 minutes run, 1.5 minutes walk and 1.5 minutes run to end.  All of my jogs (except the first one) ended up being walks and I had trouble keeping my pace up.  Normally I am accelerating my pace at the end of each interval, but this time it was all I could do to not stop too soon!  I have had several good runs in a row, so I was probably due for a bad one, but it still was no fun.  I didn't even get the post-run happiness I usually do.  I was happy, but mostly because it was finally over.

We went back, showered and chilled for the rest of the night.  Tomorrow I get to go pick up my race packet and then the race is Saturday.  Hopefully my legs will feel better for that run.  What do you do when you have a bad run?
