Odd Run

This morning, my husband and I went over to his school to work on the microfilm that we didn't get to work on yesterday.  We stopped by Tim Horton's for breakfast on the way over, which was a nice treat.  I just got a couple of doughnuts, nothing fancy but it was a nice treat.

We worked at the library until about 10:45 or so.  It was the stuff I was working on that took the longest.  Once I got finished with my stuff, my husband decided it was time to head home.  On the way back to the car, we heard the university's marching band outside rehearsing.  It brought back a lot of memories for both of us.  We both did marching band throughout high school and I even did it for a few years in college.  Those were good times but very sweaty (Texas in the middle of August = HOT!).

Me after a long hot day of high school marching band practice!
After we got home, I messed around on the computer for a little bit and then had lunch.  I ate some of my leftovers from yesterday.  After that I headed upstairs to pack for my cousin's wedding.  Since we are both flying it is going to be a little bit more complicated organizing everything.  Adding to the complications, my husband has one free checked bag for both his there and back trip while I have two free checked bags but only on my outbound flight, not my return one (each flight was booked at a different time through different means, so that's why they are all different).  It is something like one of those logic puzzles to figure out how to get everything where it needs to be, hopefully, without paying to check a bag.  I think we got it all figured out, but since I cannot finish all of the packing until tomorrow I won't know for sure.

I know I still have a little over two months until my half, but I am starting to try to think about what races to do next.  I think I might just be addicted ;-).  I can't really register for anything until I get the calendar for this school year, which won't happen until tomorrow at the soonest and it will most likely be on Monday.

After all that, I got ready to do my run.  We were having dinner with some friends at 6 and my friend and I usually run at 4:15.  I had a 45 minute run scheduled so that would get me back at 5, which would give me just enough time to get ready and head out.  My friend texted me at around 3:30 saying she wouldn't be able to meet me until 4:30 so I decided to simply start running on my treadmill at 4:15 and run until she got to my house.  Then, I would do whatever time I had remaining with her.  It was a good plan but she didn't get to my house until 4:50 (later than she thought) so we only got to run together for 11 minutes.  I was glad I didn't bail on her though and she was glad I didn't cancel as well since it would have been easy for her to just skip her run if I didn't do at least some of it with her.

I did 2.75 miles on my treadmill and then another mile outside.  I couldn't believe I did another whole mile outside.  I didn't feel like I was pushing myself that hard, it was supposed to be an easy run.  I think the weather helped a whole lot.  It was barely 70 with a light breeze so I couldn't have asked for much better weather.

After the run, I got ready and we headed over to our friend's house for dinner and then to watch Despicable Me, which my husband and I had never seen.  It was a cut movie, although with 3 boys running around a bit there were parts of it I missed, but overall it was pretty cute.  We headed back home to get some sleep around 9.
