This morning after I got up and had breakfast, I decided that I should go ahead and get my cross training out of the way so I didn't have to worry about it while my in-laws were in town. Today I did some upper body strengthening both with and without weights. I did some push ups and each time I do them, I am reminded how bad I am. I really need to continue to work on doing them because I can only do about 5 real ones. Ugh!
After my workout, I went upstairs and laid down for a little bit. My puppy must have been feeling like snuggling because he came and cuddled up with me. He usually likes to be on the bed with me, but not curled up with me. My husband snapped this picture with his phone (it's not the best picture nor the most flattering but it makes me happy) of the two of us all cuddled up together.
The dog does like to sleep on his back and he does often sleep with his eyes open.
We took my in-laws to our church. We had a good time getting to introduce them to our friends and I think they liked getting to meet the people we are talking about regularly. After lunch, we swung by McDonald's to grab a quick lunch. We ate in the lobby of the hotel my in-laws are staying at and then they went to their room to take a nap and we went back to our house.
While my in-laws rested, we relaxed at the house and talked a little bit about the plan for tomorrow. When my in-laws had rested, we picked them up and then headed to dinner. Tonight we went to a really good German place that my husband and I had been to before. We actually went the night before my Big City 5K, so I didn't branch out or try anything that might have upset my stomach. This time I got the sampler of all of their wonderful sausage and ate a little bit of it all. We also shared one of their jumbo cream puffs. They advertise this thing as weighing a 1/2 pound and by the size of it I completely believe it.
All of the food they gave me!
After dinner, I went for a walk with my in-laws while my husband finished up some homework he has due for class tomorrow. After that we played a game of SkipBo (which I actually won in a huge comeback!) and a game of Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? My husband and I scored this game a month or two ago at a garage sale and were super excited about it because we both loved the show back when we were kids. It brought back memories.
Ahh, the memories. Mostly memories of yelling at the TV! ( Topeka, you're standing on it!)
I'm signed up for the Oktoberfest run and one of the "incentives" is food from that German restaurant! (Cream puff, sausage, and beer!) Now hopefully I can run a mile by then, haha! :-D
I always like a race with good "incentives" as well. Although being the somewhat competative person I am, I tend to like medals (even super cheap ones) and race bibs that have my name on them. In the case of food, my favorite is when a race has Panera Bread bagels! After a run, they are like heaven!
