This morning I weighed in at 135.4. It wasn't the lowest number I've seen this week, but it was definitely lower than last week! Every week so far I have felt pretty good about the numbers on the scale. I am over halfway through the summer and I am still where I want to be! Only 5 more Fridays to go before school starts again. I haven't decided if I should try to lose these last 10ish pounds while I am in serious half-marathon training or if I should wait until after that is done. I think I will see what happens with my weight the first few weeks of being back in school and then I'll make a decision of some sort.
This morning I got up and put the finishing touches on my husband's costume (he was going to get some free Chick-Fil-A for breakfast). I got that done and then started work on my skirt. I finished my shirt yesterday so it was all that was left. I spent most of the morning cutting out black cow spots and sewing them onto my skirt. The skirt was a sheer-ish material and more challenging to work with, so it took me most of the morning to get it done. I also cut out a few cows masks and made some simple cow tails (from some yarn) for me and a friend of mine and her family.
Me in my cow costume! |
We met up with my friend and her family for lunch at Chick-Fil-A! It was much less crowded than I expected. I am used to it being absolutely nuts, but I have only gone for the free food at dinner time before. We will see how crowded it is when we again tonight. They had never done the Cow Appreciation Day before and her boys had a blast! It is always so fun to go and see all the other costumes. My favorite part is watching the expressions of the people who come in without knowing and seeing their reactions to the cow costumes and other craziness.
After lunch, I went home and did some editing of my blog and got a text from my dad telling me that my mom is out of surgery and that she is doing fine. I can call her in a few hours and I am looking forward to talking to her.
Before I knew it, we had to leave to head for dinner at a different Chick-Fil-A and with different friends. On the way to dinner, I called my mom and chatted with her. She said that she still has the wound drain in but that it is a battery operated one that she will get to take around with her when she goes home tomorrow. She was very excited about it. She said that my dad had gone around the house yesterday with his left hand stuck in his pocket to see what he could change to make things easier for my mom when she gets home. I thought it was very sweet of him.
We drove a little bit further to get to this Chick-Fil-A, but in terms of crowds, it was completely worth it. I don't think I have ever seen an open Chick-Fil-A this quiet at dinner time. There was no wait to order and very little to get our food. Only a couple of other people were dressed up and the person who took our order initially forgot to give us our discount, which I took to mean there hadn't been many people who it had be given to. It was much less hectic than it was when we did this in Texas though so I will take it.
We had a great conversation with our friends, who are also fellow transplanted Texans. We tend to go months without hanging out with them (outside of church functions) and then when we do hang out, I always tell my husband that I really like them and we need to hang out with them more. I think a big part of it is that we are both live about 15 minutes from our church, which is a reasonable distance for us, but we live in opposite directions. I think it is that distance that makes it more of a challenge to get together.
Two friends of mine and I have been trying to set up a time for us to go get pedicures and it has been challenging to find a time that works with all of our schedules. We finally got it scheduled and we are getting them tomorrow at 1pm. I am definitely overdue for one (I get them pretty regularly as they are my one "girly" expense) and I am excited to hang out with these lovely ladies!
