Pedicures

Last night my husband turned over rather violently in his sleep and knocked his full (and open) water bottle over.  I heard the spill and immediately woke him up to stop the spilling.  He spent the next 15 minutes or so cleaning up the water and drying off his belongings (I was in the bathroom).  I had trouble getting back to sleep after that and 6:30 came much earlier than I wanted it to.

I got up and dressed and headed out for 4 mile run.  It went by really quickly and I felt like I could have run longer.  I hardly walked at all!  It was much more enjoyable than doing that run on the treadmill would have been.  I did end up taking a wrong turn and had to backtrack, which added about a third of a mile to my run.  I did my 4.36 miles in 1:00:36, which ended up being a 12:54 minute mile, which is above what I am hoping my race pace will be.  I imagine that as these runs get longer, I will slow down but I have plenty of wiggle room to stay above 13:30 miles.

After run post run routine, I went to the grocery store.  I only had 2 reusable bags of stuff, but since there was whole bag of cleaning supplies it was over $75.  I was a little shocked, but when I went through and added up the approximate costs in my head, it made sense.  Whenever I have a shopping trip that has lots of cleaning stuff or lots of meat, it always throws off my internal estimations.

After the grocery store, I did a few little things around the house, ate lunch and then headed out to get a pedicure with a few of my friends.  Both of them are moms and were excited both for the pedicure and for the relaxation that we would get for a few hours.  The people were super nice and friendly and we all enjoy ourselves immensely.

My pretty pink toes!
After the pedicure I came home to get ready because we are having people over for dinner tonight.  They have three kids and our house is safe for kids, but there isn't exactly a lot for them to do here.  We do have an XBox, which they don't and so we might rent a game for them to play.  The plan is also to possibly go swimming, depending on the weather and if we feel like it.

For the past couple of weeks, I have noticed a bird's nest in the eaves of the porch we share with our neighbors.  We thought it was an old one and so my husband asked the complex maintenance to remove it.  Yesterday they told us they didn't want to because there were baby birds in it!  I had no idea there were birds there so today I looked for them.  Indeed there are a few, at least four I think, although it is a little hard to tell.  I am fairly sure they are robins based on the birds who fly in our porch all the time.

The bird's nest in our porch!
My dog can clearly tell when people are going to come over to our house.  Once he figures out people are close to being here (I must do some sort of routine that he picks up on), he goes and sits by the window so he can watch the parking lot.  I finally caught him with my camera; he will usually run after me if he sees me over by him while he is waiting.

The puppy waiting for out guests!
Our friends came over around 6 and we had dinner.  The older boys played some Lego Harry Potter and then we went to the pool to swim.  We had never been to our apartment complex pool before so it was kind of nice to experience it.  I had a good time and think overall a positive experience was had.  I am rather tired now due to the lack of sleep last night and a busy day today so I am ready for bed.
