Vacay Days 19 and 20 - Still More Driving and Home at Last!

On Monday morning, I got up and went for a run and then got ready and left by around 8:30.  As a treat, I stopped by Chick-Fil-A and got one of my all time favorite breakfasts,  Chicken Minis.  They are basically the Chick-Fil-A chicken nuggets on a yummy biscuit.  Then I drove, for 10+ hours to spend the night at my Grandparents.

At their house, I helped him figure out how to post pictures to Facebook and how to send a text message on their cell phones.  I also promised them I would send them some new pictures of our family.  The family pictures they had of husband and I and my parents and siblings were older, so I thought they would appreciate having newer pictures.  I need to remember to get those printed and sent to them when I get home.

I also got to see my Grandpa's new scooter.  He isn't allowed to drive a car anymore (due to his vision), but this scooter of his allows him to get around the neighborhood they live in really well.  We are all glad that he has this scooter because except for his vision, he is perfectly healthy and really didn't like not being able to leave the house on his own.  According the the law there, which he thoroughly researched before buying his scooter, he doesn't have to have a license to drive this around since it is technically a "motorized bicycle".  He carries around a copy of the state statutes and the specifications of his scooter (apparently he has been stopped at least once).  It is definitely more than I expected when he told us all about his scooter.

This seems more like a motorcycle than a scooter to me,  but I don't make the rules.
On Tuesday, I woke up and was gone by 7, which was good since my final drive was going to take 12 hours (including the hour I would lose because of the time change).  I was sick of eating out by this point and I was excited that I would be able to eat a late-sih dinner at home that night.

This day was probably the worst driving day I have had so far.  It was a combination of the longest drive I had to do, wanting to be home so badly, slow speed limits (why 65?) and all the rain.  It rained from when I got within an hour of St. Louis until I got to the border of Ohio.  It wasn't constant, but it was off and on, sometimes dry, sometimes a drizzle and sometime a downpour!  I finally pulled into our home at 7 pm!

It was soooooo nice to finally be home!  My doggy was so excited to see me.  At first he didn't know what was going on, but when he realized that I was back, he wouldn't leave my side for the next hour!  My husband was excited to see me too!  I was very glad to be back and out of the car.

After the joy of being home and eating a meal at my own house, I did manage to get my suitcase unpacked and even did a load of laundry before bed.  Tomorrow I will try to get the rest of my stuff unpacked.
